Meet Our Four-Legged Teachers
Marquis Farm offers lesson students exceptional lesson horses who can can help every student accomplish their goals in and outside of the show ring. Nobody can teach you to improve your skills better than the horse you’re on. You can learn more about our current school horse cohort below. These school horses are cherished by many and would love to meet you!
Let It Be, aka "Lady": 1999, 16’1 hh, chestnut Hanovarian mare. This wonderful mare is the jack of all trades. She’s shown successfully in Jumpers, Hunters, Dressage, Equitation, and Eventing. She’s not a beginner ride, but she’s always going to get you to the other side and not let you down at the show. She’s a seasoned professional and very patient teacher. Come meet our wonderful friend and bring her a carrot.

Obscura: 2011, bay, 16’2hh SbS mare from our breeding program. Ellen Lohmeyer graciously allows her fabulous mare to be one of our elite teaching members. This fancy mare competes successfully at Hunters, Jumpers, and equitation. She’s safe for beginners through advanced. She doesn’t like traffic, but she’s competitive at any level of show. She teaches how to ride with your leg and always navigates the jumps safely. She is a saint.

Catori, aka “Cat”: 2008, bay Westphalian mare, 16’1 1/2hh. This amateur friendly mare helps teach the ropes in dressage, eventing, and showjumping. She’s competitive, fancy, and can take a joke. She doesn’t give things to her riders for free, but teaches you how to ask correctly with patience. She’ll teach you how to ride and reward you for it every time.
